As Donald Trump is gearing up for the presidential election, an anti-Trump campaign ‘Dump Across America’ is also gaining momentum. The campaign against Trump has taken a new turn when a group of artists opened a shop in New York to popularize the campaign.
The shop opened by popular street artist Hanksy and his team as part of “Dump Across America” sells anti-Trump posters, portraits, and stickers, not usual ones, but made of dog poop.
The posters and stickers were inspired by a mural of Trump painted by Hanksy portraying Trump as a fly-infested pile of shit. That emoji went viral and became the hallmark of the ‘Dump Trump’ campaign.
“Much like his campaign, it all started out as a joke. That one shitty image, painted on a wall in Chinatown, completely took off. I started seeing it pop up all over social media. Bootleg T-shirts, homemade signs […] People really responded to it,” Hanksy told Complex.
According to a report in Complex, 20 portraits of Trump have been created using the “paint-like substance.” But the customers need not worry as they have been coated with several layers of varnish.
“I’ve always respected that the right image can sway someone. And I know this is a cartoon piece of imagery — when it comes down to it, it’s just a turd — but there are layers to it. You never know what can take off, what can hit people and trigger things in someone,” said Hanksy.
The website of ‘dump across America’ says that it is not a political group.
“This is not a political group. It’s not politics. It’s just common sense. Donald Trump is not fit to represent the United States of America,” says the website.
