Shahid Kapoor-starrer ‘Udta Punjab’ was leaked online on Wednesday, just two days before the release date of the film. The film had finally got clearance from the Censor Board after a long battle.
According to a report in Spotboy.com, major portions of the movie were leaked online and were available for download on some torrent websites. There are also reports that the full movie was available on some websites with a running time of 2 hours and 20 minutes.
The snapshots posted on the website clearly shows that the leaked film was the copy submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) as it contained the label ‘for censor.’ The leaked version also contained the scene that the Bombay High Court had directed the filmmakers to remove.
However, the download link was removed from websites later on. It is yet to know whether the film was leaked from censor board itself.
The Abhishek Chaubey-directed film got the permission from the Bombay High Court on Monday to release the film with a single cut. The filmmakers approached the court after the censor board suggested as much as 89 cuts in the movie. The movie will be released with ‘A’ certificate.
The film, which revolves around drug abuse in Punjab, also features Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Diljit Dosanjh.
