Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he would invite North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for a visit to the US and again rejected criticism over his willingness to speak with Kim Jong-un.
Republican Party’s presumptive presidential candidate mocked his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton for her criticism, calling Mrs Clinton a “rank amateurâ€.
“She’s been doing it forever and she still doesn’t get it†Trump criticized.
“What the hell is wrong with speaking?†Trump asked during a rally in Atlanta.
In an hour plus speech Trump said that he wouldn’t give Kim Jong-un a state dinner and reassured his supporters that he would not travel to North Korea.
“And you know what? It’s called opening a dialogue. It’s opening a dialogue.†Trump said.
It was in May, Trump first floated the meeting in an interview with Reuters. Hilary Clinton has criticized Trump for being willing to negotiate directly with the North Korean leader, who always antagonized allies and brutally oppressed his citizens.
However, Trump speculated that the meeting probably would never happen.
