Earth’s second moon is an asteroid.By Rakesh Agrawal
Married Hindu women in future will have one more option to offer water on the occasion of Karva Chauth, the fourth day after the full moon, in the Hindu calendar month of Kartik, when they fast without water from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands and break their fast only after offering water to the moon, as NASA has just announced the our Earth has a new quasi-satellite.
The astrologer, Eddie Irizarry made this announcement in the Space on June 16, 2016 that an Asteroid 2016 HO3 is Earth’s nearby companion in space. Although, it is very far off, so in strictly, cannot be termed as our second moon, but it has an orbit so similar to ours that, it is named as our quasi-moon and who know, one day, it may become our second moon!
This small asteroid has an orbit very similar to Earth’s path around the sun that it stays as a our constant companion and astronomically, is our second moon, as discovered by the Pan-STARRS 1 telescope in Hawaii, designated as 2016 HO3 on April 27, 2016. Astronomers then studied it for two months, analyzing its orbit and announced on June 16, 2016 that this asteroid has been a quasi-satellite of Earth for almost 100 years band will remain as Earth’s companion for many more centuries.
Vox Science and Health, a general interest news site for the 21st century, also announced this news that NASA astronomers have detected an asteroid that is constantly circling the Earth as it orbits around the sun. This “quasi-satellite,” known as 2016 HO3, is our companion for nearly a century and will stay with us for many more centuries.
Vox called it as a new buddy of Earth.
Another major news channel, Fox News also mentions it, saying that the newly discovered asteroid 2016 HO3 orbits the sun in such a way that it always travels alongside earth and has become a quasi-satellite” of our planet.
So does notes, Astrobob, ‘Earth Has A New Little Buddy, Quasi-Satellite 2016 HO3’, you thought the moon is no longer Earth’s only companion as now we know of another, but unlike the moon, this one orbits the sun but sticks close to us. And, it is 2016 HO3, looping around the sun along with us.
If the comet promotes itself from the quasi to actual status, divinity of the moon will indeed be challenged!
