Ankur played Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s husband in ‘Sarabjit’.
After playing the role of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s husband in ‘Sarabjit’, New York-based Indian actor Ankur Bhatia takes on the role of Shraddha Kapoor’s husband in Apoorva Lakhia’s ‘Hasina’.
Ankur will play Ibrahim Parkar, Haseena Parkar’s better half in the film that tells the real life story of Dawood Ibrahim’s late sister.
Ankur made his acting debut with Mira Nair’s production and played a negative role in Apoorva Lakhia’s ‘Zanjeer’ remake.
The actor first met Apoorva at a film festival in New York where the directors Shootout at Lokhandwala was screened.
“We kept in touch. He appreciated my work in Sarabjit. I’am excited and looking forward to work with him” Ankur told to Mumbai Mirror.
“Haseena married Ibrahim at the age of 17 and was smitten by his strong, brooding personality. He was a Pathan running a vegetarian restaurant in a Muslim dominated area. A majority of his customers were Maharashtrian mill workers who used to work nearby. He had no underworld connections and was killed by Dawood’s rival gang, as he went about his business at his eatery,” said Ankur, who has begun preparations for the film with the director.
Ankur also added that he is super-excited to work with Shraddha as he thinks she’s an immensely talented actress.
