A 16-yer-old girl allegedly killed her husband when he tried to sell her laptop that she got as a prize for her performance in studies, on Thursday, in Rajasthan.
The deceased has been identified as Harphool, 20, from Kanota, who worked in an automobile showroom, reported The Hindustan Times.
According to the police, Harphool was an alcoholic and used to quarrel with his wife for money to drink. On Thursday morning, the couple had a heated argument and he tried to snatch the laptop of his wife for selling it to find the money for drinking. He said that she didn’t want the laptop as she stopped her studies three years back.
Not being able to bear Harphool’s torture, the girl took a rock that was kept inside the house and hit him in the head.
“A scuffle ensued and in a fit of rage the girl picked up one of the rocks that were kept in the house to balance matkas (earthen pots to store drinking water) and hit Harphool in the head,” deputy commissioner of police (east) Kunwar Rashtradeep told Hindustan Times.
“Since the rock was a heavy one, Harphool collapsed immediately after a single blow. The girl then called her parents and Harphool was rushed to SMS Hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors,” he added.
The girl had to end her studies three years ago after completing the eighth standard and got married at the age of 16. She was awarded the laptop for topping the class examination in 8th class.
The police have registered a case of murder, arrested the girl and sent her to a juvenile correctional center. As she is a minor, the police are yet to decide which sections are to be charged against her.
