The iconic Empire State Building was struck by lightning as a storm passed through New York City on Monday.
A video shared by journalist Henrik Moltke managed to capture the heart stopping footage of the exact moment and it went viral on social media.
Moltke, who works with Big Apple, says he saw the storm approaching from his office window and captured the strike by balancing his phone against the glass.
He says he “was just lucky,†Associated Press reports.
Moltke captioned the video ‘Boom’ and he also tweeted pictures of the moment which also quickly went viral.
Lightening striking Empire State Building is not unusual. According to the building website the structure serves as a lightning rod for the surrounding area and is hit by lightning 23 times a year.
The storm and heavy rain took down trees and power lines in the New York City on Monday.
