An initiative worth emulating all across India.
When they realized that their friend didn’t have a toilet at his home, they decided it was their duty to help him. Four students from Tamil Nadu have set an example to others by constructing a toilet for their friend using funds collected through crowd funding.
Vaseegaran, Rahul, Naveenraj and Harish, Class VIII students of SK Government High School in Thethakudi South Village, in the Nagapattinam district launched a crowd-funding campaign to build a toilet for their friend, reported The Times of India.
The group noticed their friend Agathiyan who came from a poor family falling ill frequently and missing class due to poor health. He had even developed skin disease on his foot. Soon the group realized that the lack of sanitation facilities at home was the reason for their friend’s health issues.
The students wanted to help Agathiyan solve his problems and help him return to normalcy. They decided to construct a toilet, and initiated a crowd-funding effort in their school.
Their teacher Veeramani helped them organize the program and hold an Independence Day rally to raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and health.
The students also undertook the construction of the toilet to save expenses and to make a positive change in the life of their friend.
