A Florida man, who put his “wanted” poster as profile picture, was arrested by the police in Stuart, Florida.
Mack Yearwood, a man with two outstanding warrants as well as a possible tie to an open case, was sleeping at his brother’s house when the officers found him.
Upon the arrival of the police, the 41-year-old requested an officer hand his pants. When he began to dress, “a bag of weed” fell out of his pants pocket, resulting in a cannabis possession charge, ABC News reports.
“Facebook is a great way to communicate and connect with old friends and family,” Cpl. Brian Bossio wrote in a post on the Stuart Police Department’s Facebook page. “If you are wanted by the police, it’s probably not a good idea to use the ‘Wanted of the Week’ poster of yourself as your profile pic.”
Police earlier this week responded to call about an alleged battery- a criminal offence involving use of force against another involving use of force against another, resulting in harmful, offensive or sexual contact- at a local home, and while he had already fled the scene, the victim pointed to Yearwood as a possible suspect.
The police had few clues about Yearwood’s whereabouts and they decided to check out his Facebook page to see what they could find.
“The patrol guys, to look where he was and for some intelligence, they went to his Facebook page, they discovered that he used his wanted poster for his Facebook profile,” Bassio told ABC news.
