Strange case of Bal Kishan Bansal.
Nearly two months after the suicide of his wife and daughter, senior central government official Bal Kishan Bansal and his son killed themselves at their residents in Nilkanth Apartments in East Delhi.
The Indian Express reported that the incident came to light when the domestic informed the police that she had found the bodies on Tuesday morning.
“We have recovered their dead bodies and called the district forensic crime team to examine the spot,†a police officer was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
Bansal, 59, and his 28-year-old son committed suicide in the same room where his wife Satyabala (58) and daughter Neha (28) were found dead on July 22 after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided their house in connection with some bribery charges against Bansal.
The police have recovered suicides notes and their copies from the house and family photos were attached to every note.
A Director General in the Corporate Affairs ministry, Bansal was arrested by the CBI after on July 17 following probes into a bribery case. The CBI alleged that the bureaucrat had accepted a bribe of Rs. 900,000 from a Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company for evading an investigation against the company.
The agency said they had recovered the details of 60 bank accounts, documents of 20 properties, and Rs. 6,00,0000 from Bansal’s house.
Bansal’s wife and daughter had alleged in their suicide note that they did not want to live anymore as they were humiliated by the CBI. But, they did not hold anyone responsible for their death.
Considering Bansal’s condition, a CBI court had granted him bail in August.
“Keeping in view the factum of unfortunate happening in his family, where his wife and daughter committed suicide when he was in police custody; he himself is suffering from a medical condition; his only son is in depression and the fact that Anjun Saxena is yet to be arrested… and particularly the peculiar circumstances of the case, I am of the opinion that the accused is entitled to bail,†the court observed.
Bansal, who was to retire in October, spent more time in the CBI office than his own office since his release a month back.
