SAARC summit canceled.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, on Friday, warned that his country is “fully capable of executing surgical strikes” and “no one will be allowed to cast an evil eye” on the country, reported NDTV.
Sharif’s reply came a day after India confirmed surgical strikes carried out across the Line of Control (LoC) killing two Pakistani soldiers and several militants who were preparing to infiltrate India.
The beleaguered prime minister said that Indian aggression is a threat to the entire region and “the nation is standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the valiant armed forces to defend the motherland.”
Sharif convened a special cabinet meeting on Friday to analyze the security situation in Pakistan. In the meeting, he assured that his government would take all necessary steps “to protect its people and territorial integrity in case of any aggression or violation of the Line of Control”.
Facing humiliation from member countries in the form of boycott, Pakistan, on Friday, decided to postpone the 19th SAARC summit which was to be held in Islamabad in November.
“A new set of dates will be announced soon for the 19th SAARC Summit,” said a statement issued by the foreign office of Pakistan.
The statement blamed India for the derailment of the summit.
“The decision by India to derail the summit effectively contradicts PM Modi’s own call to fight poverty in the region,” said the statement.
India had decided to boycott the SAARC summit in the wake of the Uri attack. Other member countries including Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Afghanistan had also declared their position that they were pulling out of the meet. On Friday, Sri Lanka too joined the group and expressed their wish to withdraw from the summit compelling Pakistan to postpone the meet.
In another development, Jamaat-Ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed threatened that every Indian would be taught what surgical strikes were.
Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 terror attack, while addressing a group of people on Friday, said, ”Our forces will soon teach India a lesson that it deserves.”
According to a report in Zee News, the militant leader, who is believed to be living in the safe haven in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, also threatened the media house for covering the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian army in detail.
“Zee News anchors were presenting false pictures to the world from their studios. They will soon come to know what the real truth is,” Saeed said.
”Inshallah, we will tell Zee News very soon what surgical strikes are,” he added.
The report claimed that Pakistani military forces are hurriedly burying the bodies of the killed terrorists to erase evidence.
Many reports said Pakistan has asked Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar, the mastermind of Pathankot terror attack, to relocate to a safer place and keep a low profile.
