Without having to remove the goggles.
E-commerce giant Alibaba will soon introduce a payment system that will help virtual reality shoppers make payment without having to remove the goggles, reported Reuters.
Customers using virtual reality headset can make a purchase at virtual reality shopping malls just by nodding their heads.
In 2015, Alibaba had introduced a facial recognition system for Alipay mobile payments service that helps shoppers make payment with a selfie. The new technology named VR Pay is an effort of the company to make shopping simpler in the changing digital world.
The finance arm of Alibaba Holdings demonstrated the payment service in Shenzhen on Wednesday. The technology is being developed by Ant Financial’s incubator F Lab.
The customers can make payment by entering the password in different ways by nodding the head, staring at a certain point for longer than 1.5 seconds, or by making some other head movement. They can also use their voice as the system can identify a person through voice recognition.
“It is very boring to have to take off your goggles for payment. With this, you will never need to take out your phone,” Lin Feng, who is in charge of F Lab told Reuters.
Ant Financial operates China’s largest online payments service Alipay which has more than 450 million daily users. They are planning to launch the system by the end of 2016.
