The minister had a meeting with Acting Ambassador of India in US Taranjit Singh Sandhu.
IT and NRI Affairs minister of Telangana K T Rama Rao commenced his week-long US trip on Thursday to attract investment in Telangana.
The minister held a series of meetings with industrial leaders, Acting Ambassador of India in US Taranjit Singh Sandhu and people from various other sectors at Washington DC.
Addressing the PhRMA (Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America), a group of leading innovative biopharmaceutical research companies of the US, Mr. Rao spoke of the Telangana government’s Pharma City project and the industrial policy TS-iPASS. Representatives from major companies like Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Alexion, Merck, Amgen attended the meeting and the minister also met a delegation of AES Corporation and discussed the possibility of investment in the State in the solar power sector.
The newly appointed Consul-General of US in Hyderabad Katherine B. Hadda called on the Minister and apprised him of her priorities when she took charge. Boeing International president Bertrand-MarcAllen also called on Mr. Rao and discussed the current status of Boeing’s engagement in the Aerospace city in Hyderabad.
Mr. Rao also met a high-level team of officials from the US Environmental Protection Agency and shared TS government’s vision to elevate environmental standards with a best-in-class enabling framework to curb industrial pollution.
The minister told them about the TS government’s efforts in relocating industries outside the Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad Pharma City with objective of making Hyderabad greener and pollution-free.
Mr. Rao met the Director of the Global Entrepreneurship Programme in the US government and discussed about the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017. He said that the Telangana government was keen on hosting the summit if the Indian government selected Hyderabad as the venue.
