Clash between protesters and the artist.
Commuters in downtown Manhattan were in for a shock on Tuesday morning as an obscene statue of Hillary Clinton on a roadside created a ruckus between her supporter and haters.
The outrageous statue of Clinton appeared outside the Bowling Green station in the rush hour on Tuesday. The statue had Clinton with hoofed feet and a supposedly Wall Street banker resting his head on her bare breasts.
A few minutes after the statue appeared, a woman who was seen enraged in the way the artist portrayed the Democratic Party nominee for president, toppled it over and started a fierce verbal duel with the creator.
The woman who has been identified as Nancy shouted: “This is obscene!”.
Nancy later told the Daily News: “To put something up like this in front of my workplace…I shouldn’t have to see this.”
Nancy was seen trying hard to hold back her tears as she pointed towards the grotesque statue of Hillary Clinton.
The statue was made by Anthony Scioli and he can be seen in a video trying to restore the statue toppled by Nancy. The latter is seen trying to sit down on the statue to prevent Scioli from bringing it back up.
While the heated talks were in full swing, a woman wearing a hijab stepped in and helped Nancy and stomped her foot on the face of the statue, yelling at Scioli: “Don’t! Leave it alone!”
A small crowd of morning commuters hovered around the scene with their phones out, some of whom started hurling insults and picking sides in the debate over the statue.
Gene H., 39, an IT worker, was quoted by Daily News saying “This lady shows up and tips it over and starts assaulting anyone who tried to put it back up!.” Gene said the statue should stay up as it the artist exercised his freedom of speech.
The row over the offensive statue ended after the counter terrorism unit arrived at the spot and ordered Scioli to take the statue down because he failed to get a permit for display.
