A shooting that happened at a shared parking lot of two high schools in San Francisco on Tuesday has left four students injured out of which the condition of one student has been reported critical.
The shooting that occurred at around 3.15 pm as students of the June Jordan School for Equity and City Arts and Technology High School were leaving for the day. Both schools share a campus in the city’s Excelsior District.
According to the police, the suspects who are not students, targeted a teenage girl who is currently in serious condition after she sustained a bullet injury to her upper torso. Police have also confirmed that there were four assailants, who were seen running away from the spot wearing dark hoodies and jeans.
“This was an isolated incident outside of the school building where one student was being targeted by outsiders,” the San Francisco Unified School District said in a statement.
As the shooting occurred three out of four victims took shelter inside the school and police did a thorough combing inside the school premise to make sure that the suspects are not hiding inside. All the three were rushed to the hospital where they got medical assistance and the fourth victim walked into Bayview police station and he was then taken to the hospital shortly afterwards.
SFUSD (San Francisco Unified School District) officials are working closely with police as they investigate the shooting.
