‘Lose’ has many connotations, Piers finds out.
The war of words between British journalist Piers Morgan and former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag is not likely to end soon. Morgan who closely follows Sehwag never misses a chance to take a jibe at the cricketer who has mastered the art of giving befitting replies.
This time, Morgan tried to correct the grammar on Sehwag’s tweet about India’s victory over England in the Kabaddi World Cup on October 18 and once again got trolled on Twitter.
Though Sehwag’s intention was to congratulate team India for their victory in the world cup, the cricketer didn’t forget to mock England for losing the game for 69-18.
“England loose in a World Cup again.Only the sport changes. This time it’s Kabaddi. India thrash them 69-18.All the best for semis #INDvENG,” tweeted Sehwag.
Soon, Morgan retweeted Sehwag’s tweet with a correction. “It’s lose,” he wrote.
After Morgan’s retweet, Twitter was flooded with comments trolling the journalist and ridiculing his attitude of fault-finding.
“@piersmorgan Eng were bound to’lose’as they played a’loose’match. Since Brexit they are quick to find an ‘exit’ everywhere @virendersehwag,” tweeted a user named Sidaarrth Shinde.
“@piersmorgan English players were so “loose” on ground so that they lost the game @virendersehwag,” said a user who goes by the handle PK.
“@piersmorgan When you can’t win an argument, start correcting your opponent’s grammar!#TwitterRules @virendersehwag,” said another who goes by the handle Drunk BATMAN.
According to Amit Achhpal, “the other “O” is probably a zero that English sports fraternity stands for. be it football, cricket or anything.”
The battle between the two started in August after India won two medals at the Rio Olympics. Morgan criticized India for celebrating the victory of two medals saying, “Country with 1.2 billion people wildly celebrates 2 losing medals. How embarrassing is that?”
Sehwag was one of the celebrities to give a fitting reply to the journalist on Twitter. “We cherish every small happiness’, But Eng who invented Cricket,&yet2win a WC,still continue to playWC.Embarrassing?” he replied.
Later, Morgan bet 1 million dollars to charity on England winning an ODI World Cup before India wins another Olympic Gold medal. “Hi @virendersehwag, I bet you 1 million rupees to charity that England wins a ODI World Cup before India wins another Olympic Gold. Accept?” he tweeted.
But, Sehwag won a million hearts after tweeting his reply. “India Already Has 9 #Gold Medals, England Has Zero WC. As Far As Charity Is Concerned, You Already Owe Us Kohinoor. #ENGvPAK,” replied the cricketer.
