Chopra emigrated from India to the US at the age of 8.
Priyanka Chopra is having a real blast in Hollywood with her debut movie Baywatch set to release next year and her TV series Quantico creating a star image for her. She has been a star attraction in various award ceremonies and the cover-girl for many magazines.
Recently, Chopra appeared on a talk show hosted by Chelsea Handler, who posed questions on her Indian-origin.
Handler, who is planning a visit to India, was eager to know more about the country and its people. She also asked Chopra if she knew English before she came to America.
Handler’s blunt question was the result of her lack of knowledge about India, which has the second largest number of people speaking English. Chopra, who came to the US at the age of 8, cleared the misunderstanding surrounding Indians capability to speak English.
She told her host that about 10% of Indians (which is close to 225,226,449 people) can speak English fluently, which makes it the second largest English speaking country in the world.
She later wrote on her twitter handle thanking Handler for having her on the show: “You are so much fun @chelseashow. Thank you for having me. Can’t wait for you to experience India…you’re going to love it. Big hug!”
