Hype coming with some new features.
Last week, Twitter announced the shutting down of its video-sharing app Vine in an attempt to cut down the number of employees and saving cost. Now, the founders of Vine have announced the launch of a live video broadcasting app named ‘Hype.’
Launched first in beta phase, Vine is now available for download for iOS. Soon, the app will be available for Android users. As the use of live videos has increased substantially, developers are blessed with the opportunity to try out innovative ideas.
Posing a threat to Facebook’s live video, Hype is also coming with some new features. It allows users to mix several contents like music, animations, or other videos to the live video. The users can blend the content already stored in their device with the live broadcast.
The viewer comments can be featured in the broadcast and there is an option to add music and emojis. The background of the broadcast can also be set as s video. In short, the app is all set to give the users an exciting sensory experience.
The app was introduced by the co-founders of Vine Colin Kroll and Rus Yusupov, through website Product Hunt on Thursday. During the introduction, the duo held a live broadcast and answered the questions of viewers. It was Yusupov and Kroll, along with third co-founder Dom Hofmann who built Vine in 2012 and sold it to Twitter for $30 million.
The broadcast video can be shown in different ways such as a circular, square, or triangular window. The viewers can interact directly and specifically by sending a comment. They can show their approval by tapping on an individual item. This creates a border of stars around the items that HYPE calls ‘sparkles’, which the app keeps count of and how many people have viewed the content.
The app is likely to compete with Twitter’s Periscope and Facebook’s Live video. Facebook has recently upgraded the support to its live video feature. Reports say that the social media giant is developing a live video feature for its photo-sharing platform Instagram.
