Newton had to undergo emergency surgery.
An attorney from Mississippi has filed a lawsuit against Popeyes chicken for not including a knife in his drive-thru order. Paul Newton Jr. alleged in his lawsuit that he choked on a large piece of fried chicken that he was forced to eat with his hands, reported Associated Press.
“Because Newton’s order did not include a plastic knife, plaintiff Newton’s only option for consumption of the chicken breasts was to hold a chicken breast in his hands and to tear off pieces thereof with his teeth,” the lawsuit states.
The lawsuit filed last week says that only a spork was given to Newton along with his purchase forcing him to eat the chicken with his hands.
According to a Fox News report, Newton bought two chicken breasts, red beans and rice, a biscuit and a soft drink last November at the Gulfport restaurant. He then drove off to his office and started eating the chicken. He started to choke on a large piece of chicken for removing which he had to undergo an emergency surgery
Newton wants the restaurant chain to provide knife along with all drive-thru orders and is seeking financial compensation and punitive damages from several defendants.
