Forbes recently announced a list of top 14 billionaires under the age of 40 who made their way to the coveted ‘The Forbes 400’ list.
This time around, Forbes considered billionaires who successfully started tech companies or inherited a fortune from their family as contenders of ‘Forbes 400: Youngest 2016’.
The 14 billionaires who form the elite group of entrepreneurs under the age of 40 make up just 3.5% of the Forbes 400 list.
Interestingly, 9 out of the 14 billionaires are technology entrepreneurs, and the rest inherited their wealth and establishments. The report also says the number of young entrepreneurs in the Forbes 400 dropped by 3% compared to the last published report.
The report also found that a majority of the young billionaires live in California, and together these young billionaires are worth a combined $113.7 billion.
The youngest billionaire in the list of Forbes 400 is the CEO of Snap Chat, Now Snap Inc. Evan Spiegel. In May 2016, Snapchat completed a $1.8 billion funding round, valuing the mobile messaging startup at $18 billion.
The eldest in the group is a 39-year-old Colombian-American financier and philanthropist Alejandro Santo Domingo who has earned a net worth of $4.8 billion managing his family’s conglomerate, the Santo Domingo Group.
Founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg also makes his way into the list of the richest men in the world under the age of 40. The 32-year-old is also the 4th richest person in the country.
