‘Book My Chotu’ charges Rs 90 for an hour.
A Delhi-based online service named ‘Book My Chotu’, has started offering general helpers on an hourly basis, to people who are standing in queues outside banks and ATMs to obtain cash after Narendra Modi government’s demonetization decision created long queues outside banks and ATMs.
‘Book My Chotu’ calls themselves as the ‘first on-demand helper booking website’ that is offering ‘Chotus’ to stand in queues outside the banks and ATMs for you in Delhi and NCR.
Their startup’s official website says that ‘Chotu ’ (errand boy) is just a name for branding purpose and all employees are above the age of 18.
They charges Rs 90 for an hour while hiring a ‘Chotu’ would cost you Rs 170 for two hours, Rs 260 for three hours, Rs 330 for four hours, Rs 380 for five hours, Rs 450 for a six hours, Rs 500 for seven hours and Rs 550 for full eight hours.
“It started when my mother was ill and I needed immediately needed cash,” founder and CEO Satjeet Singh Bedi told to Hindustan Times. “I requested my teammates to stand in the queue in place of me and quickly replaced them when my turn came.”
Users can log on to the ‘Book My Chotu’ website, enter the required information and wait for the ‘chotu’ to arrive. The ‘chotu’ will hold your place in the queue and quickly swap before your turn and make it a hassle-free process without you sharing your card or bank details with someone else.
“We thought of this as an opportunity to support the government in its fight against corruption and help our customers at the same time,” Bedi said.
