The film has no such religious reference, says director.
Bollywood super star Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar of Dum Laga Ke Haisha are working on a film titled ‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’ and the movie is already landed in trouble waters over its name and story line.
According to a report published in India times, a religious leader is offended by the story line of the film and has allegedly declared a reward of Rs 1 crore to anyone who brings the tongue of the director Shree Narayan Singh.
Phooldol Behari Dass Maharaj, a Hindu saint who addressed a mahapanchayath of Hindu saints at Barsana village located in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday claimed that the movie insults the marriage tradition of the Nandgaon and Barsana villages, where apparently the marriages between the men and women of the villages isn’t allowed.
Some locals believe that this non-marriage rule is a consequence of Lord Krishna’s village being Nandgaon and Radha’s village being Barsana.
He also asked the producer of the movie to change the title else they won’t allow the shoot of the movie in the Braj region.
Senior religious leader, Mahant Haribol Maharaj condemned the use of the pious land of ‘Radha and Krishna’ for shooting a movie with such an insulting title.
On the other hand, the director of the movie addressed the media in Mathura later in the day, refuted allegations that the film has no such religious reference.
The film is believed to be a love story, in which a Pay-&-Use toilet owner falls in love with a girl from the slum areas of the city.
The movie is slated to release on 2 June, 2017.
