The update will roll out on Monday evening.
SwiftKey, the subsidiary of Microsoft that brings artificial intelligence to smartphones by predicting words as users type it, has announced the launch of a more innovative transliteration feature for Hindi and Gujarati speaking users.
According to SwiftKey, the new update for users will start rolling out on Monday, November 28, allowing Hindi and Gujarati speaking users to type their native script using the keyboard without having to change the mode.
The developers added that they have put months of hard work to bring the new feature in the way that it functions now. According to them, the user has to just type Hindi or Gujarat words in English and the app’s artificial intelligence will automatically detect the language and predicts the word in the native language.
For example, A Hindi speaking user wants to write the word “नमस्ते”. All he/she has to do is to type the words in English as “Namaste” and SwiftKey will automatically predict the word in Hindi.
According to SwiftKey, the transliteration feature was something that the users have been requesting for the past several months.
Once the app is updated to the new version, users can type the native language without changing the mode, making the typing more intuitive. Another added feature to the updated is that users can type both in English and native script in the same message; the intelligent app will detect what the user intends to write and will make the choice.
Aarti Samani, India Product Manager of SwiftKey said: “SwiftKey’s aim is to always make typing easier, particularly if you speak more than one language and want to switch seamlessly between them without changing any of your settings. We’re proud to be introducing the feature in Hindi, one of the world’s most spoken languages, and Gujarati, which had previously not been possible to write in English letters.”
The feature will be available to all users who have installed Hindi and Gujarati languages on their phones after the updating the app on Monday.
