Mathrani made more than $39 million last year.
Indian American real estate businessman Sandeep Mathrani met President-elect Donald Trump at the Trump Towers in New York on Monday amid speculations of him joining Trump’s team.
Media reports said that the CEO of General Growth Properties could join Trump administration. But, it is not known whether Mathrani had a discussion about joining Trump’s team. Though the presidential transition team announced the meeting, they didn’t issue a statement on the meeting.
According to Chicago Business, with $ 39.2 million last year, Mathrani is the highest earning CEO of a US real estate investment trust.
Mathrani served as a Consultant of General Growth Properties General Growth Properties, the second-largest mall portfolio owner in the United States, before becoming the CEO of the company on January 17, 2011. He has been its Director since January 24, 2011.
Prior to GGP, he served as the President of Retail Real Estate at Vornado Realty Trust from March 2002 to January 14, 2011, and was responsible for all retail real estate activities in the United States and India.
Mathrani has been Director of Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. since July 12, 2016. He served as a Director at Aliansce Shopping Centers SA since March 2011. He holds a Master of Engineering, Master of Management Science and Bachelor of Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, in Hoboken, NJ.
According to Federal Election Commission records, Mathrani has not made any financial contributions to federal candidates in 2016 elections. But he had contributed both to Barack Obama’s and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaigns in 2008.
