17 games have been added to messenger.
Facebook users who are annoyed by the number of game requests in their notification bar might not be too happy with the announcement made by the social media giant on Tuesday as they are planning to roll out a new feature that will allow users to play hugely popular games like Pac-Man and Space Invaders in what is seen as the latest attempt to make users spend more time in the Facebook messaging app.
According to the statement released by Facebook, the new feature will be available for users in 30 countries using both iOS and Android device after they update the app to the latest version.
As of now, 17 games have been added to messenger for the users to play, without having to close the app.
The statement read: “Frenzy; or try again to beat your roommate at PAC-MAN just once; and of course, you always have time to challenge your brother to EverWing, SPACE INVADERS, TRACK & FIELD 100M, Galaga, and many other Instant Games. This gaming experience will first roll out to 30 countries, and is available for newer iOS and Android operating systems.”
Once the Facebook Messenger is updated to the latest version, friends who are in middle of a chat can challenge the other to play a game. After completing the game, both the players will get the score card. Users can select the games by just searching it in the Messenger search field, or on Facebook News Feed. Users also have an option to play solo games.
The social media giant separated Messanger from its Facebook app and created a standalone one which was seen as a cynical move. But proving the pessimists wrong, 1 billion people currently use Messenger every month to connect, banter and share with friends.
Facebook Messenger allows users to send Stickers, and Instant Video to make the chat livelier and there are new features such as payment facilities.
