State Police found the bodies on Monday afternoon.
A 40-year-old woman from Glen Rock posted a lengthy suicide note on Facebook a day after Christmas shortly before suffocating her one-year-old son and killing herself.
Sheri Shermeyer dead in bed from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and her son John, who was apparently suffocated.
State Police found the bodies on Monday afternoon from Shermeyer’s home after being alerted by a friend who saw the Facebook post.
“I have been slowly dying inside. I’m confused, just torn down, hardly ever go out in public anymore, don’t socialize with people, I’ve become a hermit. I feel that the ONLY thing I have to live for is this little guy asleep in my arms right now, John. He is the only reason why I haven’t blown my head off right now,” Shermever wrote on Facebook before committing suicide.
The post reflected Shermeyer’s love for the child and the challenges she has faced as a single parent.
“You will never see your son again, you don’t deserve to have a son, to have a legacy,” Shermeyer expressed anger towards her husband.
Shermeye’s Facebook page describes her as a stay-at-home parent, originally from Anderson Creek, North Carolina.
Police is investigating the death of Shermeyer as a case of suicide and her son’s as a homicide.
