The incident happened in a deserted lane of Kammanahalli area in East Bengaluru.
After the shocking revelation of how the New Year eve revelry turned nightmare for several women in Bengaluru, now a shocking CCTV footage of a young woman being groped and molested in a deserted street is surfacing online.
The incident happened in a deserted lane of Kammanahalli area in East Bengaluru around 2.30 am Sunday. The CCTV footage shows the woman getting out of an auto-rickshaw and walking, when two men on a scooter stop and start groping her even as she resists.
The man then drags her towards the bike as the victim punches the attacker. She suffers a brutal blow at the hands of these men before they leave her on the road and flee away.
Some other men are seen standing at the end of the lane but don’t make any attempt to help the victim.
The shocking incident was recorded by a CCTV camera installed in a nearby house and the residents of the house reportedly brought the video to the notice of a few media houses after which the police were notified.
The city’s newly appointed Commissioner of Police Praveen Sood tweeted that his team has found “credible evidence†of molestation, attempt to robbery and have registered an FIR.
Bengaluru has been facing a lot of backlash for the mass molestation that took place on the New Year eve. Eyewitness accounts suggested that women were molested and groped on MG Road and Brigade Road by miscreants even as 1500 police personnel were allegedly deployed to control the crowds.
