A Pune-based techie who lost his cool after knowing that his wife shared information about their marriage and personal life to her friends, murdered her and later committed suicide by hanging himself in the ceiling fan of their rented house on Thursday.
According to reports, the software professional and his wife were living in a rented house in Shiv Park Apartment in Manjri Mudruk near Hadapsar, almost 12 km from Pune.
The suicide note left by Rakesh Gangurde says he and his wife Sonali had frequent arguments over her sharing personal details of their married life to friends via WhatsApp.
The couple got married four years ago but did not have children. Rakesh is a B.Sc. graduate and also holds an MBA as well. He was working with a private firm at Swargate till last month. He quit the job after being offered a better job by a Surat-based company. Sonali, BE (computers) degree-holder, was a homemaker.
The incident came to light after Harshal Pawar, Sonali’s brother who stays at Baner, got a call from his mother who said Sonali was unreachable in her phone since afternoon. When Pawar tried Rakesh’s number, his phone went unanswered.
Sensing trouble, Pawar, and a cousin, Prashant Deolekar, went to the rented apartment which was locked from inside. When they tried breaking the window grill of the apartment using a hammer, neighbors advised calling the police.
The police arrived and broke open the door to find the couple dead. According to the Assistant inspector Kiran Londhe, the couple were leading a happy married life until Rakesh came to know about Sonali sharing the details of their family planning and other personal matters with her friends on social media.
The preliminary investigation of the police suspect, Rakesh to have strangled Sonali to death on the bed after which he hanged himself on the ceiling fan using a nylon rope.
The bed was found broken. The note, written by Rakesh in Marathi, read that he was responsible for the crime.
Police also confirmed that they have not received any complaints from neither of the couples before. It is also reported that both their families also were clueless about the severing relationship.
