The fundraising gala is scheduled for March 25th.
Indian House Houston has announced that its 14th Annual Gala that is scheduled for 24th March will have 24-year old Ian Grillot – the American who was injured in the racially instigated Kansas shooting – as the special guest of honor.
Grillot sustained serious injuries while trying to save the life of Indian engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotle who was killed when a US Navy veteran racially abused him and later shot him fatally at a bar in Olathe, Kansas.
The invite sent by India House Houston reads, “A true American hero from Olathe, Kansas. He tried to take down a cowardly racist, who shot dead Indian aviation engineer Srinivas and injured another engineer from India.”
The fundraising gala scheduled for March 25th Saturday at J W Marriott Houston will honor Grillot as ‘A True American Hero’.
Jiten Agarwal, Board Member and 2017 Gala Chair of India House said that the 14th Annual Gala will be one of the biggest fundraisers of India House this year. He has invited all Houstonians to come and participate in the event that will acknowledge the bravery of Grillot and also support India House’s annual fundraising event.
The event will feature Indian Ambassador to the US Navtej Sarna, Award Winning Master Chef Vikas Khanna and Mayor Sylvester Turner, as guest speakers.
Adding to this, dignitaries such as former US Ambassador to India David Mulford, former US Assistant Secretary of State Nisha Biswal, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and Member of Parliament – India, Kalikesh N S Deo will also attend the event as guests of honor.
The fundraising event will also feature entertainment programs such as theme dances by Karmagraphy and performance of flutist Anis Chandani.
