YLI aims to prepare the students as globally competent for the challenges of the 21st century.
The Asia society, a leading educational organization, has invited applications for a week-long program that intends to prepare Houston high school students for leadership.
The Young Leaders Institute (YLI) aims to prepare the students as globally competent for the challenges of the 21st century. Students will engage in the four tenets of global competency such as investigate the world, recognize perspectives, communicative ideas and take action.
The first session is scheduled from June 19 till June 23 is about China and covers Chinese foreign affairs, cyber security, global trade network, and social issues in the world’s populous country.
The second session, which will be about India, will be held during July 17 – May 21. It includes foreign and regional policy, women’s rights, the country’s economic infrastructure and development, population growth and access to resources.
Students will work in teams, researching, debating, and presenting solutions for the challenges facing our world. Throughout the week they will be mentored by Asia Society staff and local experts.
The Asia Society is offering the program free of charge and the last date to apply is Friday, April 14.
