Husband Hanumantha Narra claims the bodies; he is unlikely to accompany bodies to India.
Investigators have released the bodies of mother and son who were found dead in a Maple Shade, NJ, apartment on March 24, a spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office told The American Bazaar.
The bodies of Sasikala Narra (32) and Anish Narra (6) were claimed by Hanumantha Rao Narra, the husband of Sasikala, a community source told the Bazaar.
The bodies will be available for viewing from 5 pm onward at the Hindu Funerals of America in Highland Park, New Jersey, according to the source.
The source, who did not want to be named because of the sensitivity of the case, also said the husband is unlikely to be accompanying the bodies because he fears that the parents of Sasikala might file a case against him in India.
“The husband doesn’t want to go to India,” the source said. “Sasikala’s parents have already gone public holding him responsible for the murders.”
The source, who is close to the family of Sasikala, said Hanumantha Narra has been cleared after the interrogation. But the Bazaar could not verify it.
The Bazaar reported Tuesday that Narra was interrogated for five to six hours by the police
Asked about the interrogation, Joel Bewley, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman, said via email that he could not “discuss who may or may not have been interviewed by investigators.”
