Vijay Iyer to perform at New York’s The Greene Space

Indian American composer-pianist Vijay Iyer, in association with Q2 Music is gearing up for another musical night ‘Vijay Iyer and Friends’ at The Greene Space, 44 Charlton Street, New York on April 13.

The event is presented in partnership with the 2017 Ojai Music Festival in California where Iyer is serving as music director, and where he will be joined by diverse artists, for a four-day festival of premieres and bold new music.

The one hour, 15 minutes long show will start at 7 p.m. Iyer is expected to present excerpts from a recent collaboration with mentor and composer-trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith. He will also share the stage for music and conversation with drummer-composer Tyshawn Sorey, acclaimed violinist Jennifer Koh and pioneering composer and scholar George Lewis.

The 45-year-old Grammy-nominated musician performs around the world with ensembles, most frequently in his trio with Stephan Crump and Marcus Gilmore, featured on three albums: Break Stuff (2015, ECM), Accelerando (2012, ACT) and Historicity (2009, ACT).
