Indian American Nimish Jani has been re-elected as a Trustee for the Schaumburg township board. The election was held on April 4, 2017.
The 56-year-old Jani is a small business owner in the hospitality industry. He has been residing in the township from the past 28 years. His past and present involvements include BAPS Charities, Schaumburg Township Republican Organization, Keokuk Kiwanis Club, and Lions Club and Red Cross in India. He is married to Mita for 24 years and has two children: 20-year-old daughter, Purva, and 18-year-old son, Moksh.
During his election canvassing, Jani identified three priorities. These include keeping taxes low, a balanced budget and adding more services through partnerships with outside organizations.
The township government is made up of four Trustees, one Supervisor, one Clerk, one Assessor and a Highway Commissioner. Other trustees include Diane Dunham, W. Robert Vinnedge and Jeffrey S. Mytych. The trustees are appointed for four year terms. The other four members of the township government include Highway Commissioner Scott M. Kegarise, Supervisor Mary Wroblewski, Assessor John R. Lawson and Clerk Timothy M. Heneghan.
With a population of more than 130,000 people, the township consists of Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows (south edge), Roselle, Schaumburg and Streamwood.
