Uppal, 28, won the Miss India UK pageant in 2012.
Indian British model and actress will be seen as a Punjabi village girl in the film Hard Kaur. The feature film is being directed by Ajit Rampal. Uppal is playing the role of Sirat, a simple village girl, who braves the harassment by the male dominated society.
“I am enjoying playing the role of Sirat as I feel I have connected with her situations. She is a simple girl but the people around her have bad intentions,†Uppal said in a news media statement. “The movie shows how 5 different Kaur’s deal with the situations differently.â€
Uppal gathered headlines when she participated in the Indian reality show Fear Factor: Khatron ke Khiladi in 2014. She made a guest appearance in the Hindi feature film Revolver Rani with Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut. During one of her news media interviews Uppal said that India is home to her as both her parents come from India. She said that she had to practice hard on her Hindi. The actress said that she always wanted to be part of the Indian film industry; and that she keeps traveling back and forth for assignments.
The film targets the women issues and pushes for women empowerment in Punjab, India. The male lead in the film will be performed by Nirmal Rishi. Other thespians include Aman Grewal, Raj Ninjer, Tanvir Singh, Swati Bakshi and Neet Kaur. Hard Kaur is being produced by Delhiwood Studios.
