Police is investigating the incident.
In a shocking incident, a woman hurled racist abuse at co-passengers on a train in Ireland, asking one of them to “go back to India” after he placed a bag on an empty seat.
Videos of the incident, shot by another woman passenger, were uploaded to twitter by a handle named TheBex.
“Go back to India. Don’t give me your guff,” the woman is heard saying in the video.
Even though the nationality of the woman or the other passengers was not clear, the woman was heard yelling “Respect my f***ing country and get off the seats.”
She also shouted that she had paid for her seat and others hadn’t.
“Look at the ugly head of that fella. That’s the only reason he’s backing you up is because he’s ugly,” she went on.
According to the Irish Independent, the train was travelling from Limerick Colbert to Limerick Junction and police is investigating the incident.
The woman who shot the video told the daily that the passengers who were abused eventually moved to another carriage after 16 minutes.
“You don’t really get the full effect of what happened from the video,” the witness told the Irish Independent. “She was literally sitting beside them, screaming bloody murder on their faces. It went on for almost the whole train ride.”
“It is a shocking and disgraceful incident. Any form of abuse of customers in intolerable, particularly discriminatory abuse,” Irish rail operators told the newspaper.
“The incident will have been deeply upsetting to those who were subject to abuse and those who witnessed it and we are grateful to the customer who reported it to us and raised awareness of it,” they said.
