Banerjee was last seen by neighbors the week of April 17,
San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, California, on Thursday issued a news media statement asking for public assistance in locating Indian American Sayak Banerjee, who was reported missing on Monday, April 24.
According to Sheriff’s office, Banerjee was last seen by neighbors the week of April 17, and last spoke with his wife over phone on April 20. His wife filed a missing complaint after he failed to arrive at the Orlando Airport where he was supposed to meet her.
“At this time, there is no information that confirms he boarded a plane,” the statement read.
The 33-year-old Banerjee lives in the 1100 block of Laurel Street in the City of San Carols. It is believed that he drove away from home in his black, 2005, Hyundai Accent Lic# 6VDS335.
The Sheriff’s office said in a news release that they don’t have any information or evidence suggesting any foul play in Banerjee’s disappearance, but believes it is abnormal since it is not common behavior for him.
“Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call Det. Dan Hoss at (650) 363-4066 or e-mail him at Dhoss@smcgov.org. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the Sheriff’s Office Anonymous Tip Lane at 800-547-2700,” the statement said.
Banerjee’s LinkedIn profile describes him as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University, studying experimental characterization of Jet Fuels and Rockets Fuels. He received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford in 2014 and master’s from IIT Kanpur.
