The Indian American Forum for Political Education will host a panel discussion on building alliances to combat hate crimes titled “Colors Of The Commonwealth” at MIT in Cambridge, MA, on Saturday, May 6,
The event will be held at MIT’s Wong Auditorium.
The discussion is aimed at addressing a recent increase in hate crimes against minority communities and to alleviate the tension among their members who fear hate-instigated attacks.
The discussion will touch upon effective strategies and tactics that can help the minorities in the US during these difficult times.
Experts from the political, law enforcement department and academics will discuss the rights of the minorities and how well they can use the existing laws and get help from law enforcement officials during a crisis situation and live a normal life without fear.
According to the organizers, the discussion forum “is an opportunity for concerned citizens, including all segments of the South Asian community, to come together to share your experiences, learn from the panel and develop your community’s coordinated response plan.”
This event is organized by the Massachusetts chapter of the Indian American Forum for Political Education and hosted by the MIT India and MIT South Asia. It is supported by a number of South Asian organizations.
The event is free for public.
