So many people tweeted about the outage
Popular messaging app WhatsApp experienced a global outage around 1.30 p.m. (IST), on Wednesday.
The services got disrupted in countries including India, United States, Canada and Brazil; and affected people who use WhatsApp on iOS, Android and Windows mobile OS.
Soon after, the #WhatsAppdown hashtag started trending on twitter as so many people tweeted about the outage.
“Earlier today, WhatsApp users in all parts of the world were unable to access WhatsApp for a few hours. We have now fixed the issue and apologize for the inconvenience,” WhatsApp officials told Reuters.
However, the company fixed the issue after few hours but didn’t explain what exactly went wrong.
This is not the first time that the messaging app, owned by Facebook, is facing such an outage. In 2015, on the New Year’s Eve, a similar incident happened when the services were interrupted in a number of locations around the world.
