Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera was the in-charge of Bieber’s personal security.
Pop Sensation Justin Bieber wrapped his maiden India concert on Wednesday singing his smash hit “Sorry” and with a promise to back in India.
The 23-year-old Grammy Award winning singer came to India as part of his Purpose World Tour, organized by White Fox India.
The concert began at 4 p.m., and was hosted by Harry Potter actress Elarica Johnson. Indian DJs Sartek and Zaeden performed the opening act followed by Alan Walker. Bieber took the stage in DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai around 8.15 p.m. and approximately 50,000 fans, including Bollywood celebrities were in attendance, Hindustan Times reported.
“Hello India,” Bieber said to the cheering crowd and started the concert with “Mark my words”, one of his less popular songs.
Next came “Where are you now” followed by chart toppers like “I’ll show you”, “Boyfriend” and “Love Yourself”.
After the performance of an unplugged version of ‘Cold Water’ the singer said that he loves India and has met some of the “coolest people here.” Bieber even praised a fan from the crowd saying “I like your purpose tour merch [merchandise].”
His next song was ‘Company’ followed by ‘Let me love you’. For one of the songs, underprivileged kids performed instead of the usual background dancers and later he welcomed the 100 underprivileged children, on to the stage.
After the first one and a half hours of the concert, Bieber switched his white t-shirt for a red and came back with power packed performances singing ‘What Do You Mean’ and ‘Baby’.
“No matter how old you are you have a purpose on this earth,” Hindustan Times quoted Bieber speaking about his latest album, Purpose.
He then left the stage with a “Namaste” calling the concert “the best night of his life” and promising a comeback to India.
Soon after, he returned to the stage singing “Sorry” and concluded the event waving the Indian flag onstage.
The Concert was held amid tight security and around 500 police personnel were deployed near the stadium. Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera was the in-charge of Bieber’s personal security.
Among the celebrities in attendance were Alia Bhatt, Sridevi, Raveena Tandon, Sonali Bendre, Malaika Arora, Arbaaz Khan, Anu Malik, Arjun Rampal and Rohit Roy.
Bieber, who landed in Mumbai, accompanied by mother Patricia, early on Wednesday, has the plans to visit Jaipur, Agra and New Delhi.
