The film is going to be based on Lincoln Center’s celebrated play of the same name
The Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has spread her wings high in the international film industry. Even before the release of her debut Hollywood project Baywatch, The Quantico series actress seems to have bagged her next international project.
Chopra is in negotiations to join Oscar-winning actor Octavia Spencer, Claire Danes and Jim Parsons in the film A Kid Like Jake directed by Silas Howard (who has helmed the series Transparent). Ann Dowd and Michaela Watkins are also in talks to come on board the film to be directed by Silas Howard, reported Deadline.
The film is going to be based on Lincoln Center’s celebrated play of the same name which is a story of Alex (Danes) and Greg Wheeler (Parsons), a couple who want the best for their four-year-old, Jake. As they try to get him into private schools in New York, they discover they cannot afford the fees of these institutions.
A part of what makes Jake special is that he prefers Cinderella to GI Joe is “a gender-variant,” a fact which the couple uses to try and apply for school scholarships.
While there has been no confirmation from Chopra about the film, sources report that if the deal gets finalized, Chopra, 34, will play Amal, the couple’s friend and a newly single mom who is also trying to navigate the school system, and also her love affair.
Though a source close to the actor said, “Priyanka has liked the film. But she has not signed the film yet, and is in the final stage of negotiations,” the film’s producer Paul Bernon already made the announcement on Twitter.

Parsons, Todd Spiewak and Eric Norsoph will produce via their “That’s Wonderful” Productions banner along-side Paul Bernon for Burn Later and Rachel Song for XS Media.
Meanwhile, the actor is busy promoting Baywatch, which will release in India on June 2, and the third season of her Quantico series is in its pre-production stages. Also miss Desi Girl, as she is fondly called, had recently revealed in a press conference in India that she missed doing Bollywood films. Chopra said that she has shortlisted three films that she was interested in.
