The new chain would have American-themed decorations and trinkets
President Donald Trump’s sons Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump on Monday announced the launching of Trump organization’s new three-star hotel chain inspired by their travels with their father’s campaign.
The new hotel brand American Idea will start with three hotels in Mississippi and the brand’s first partner would be Indian American Suresh Chawla’s Chawla Hotels, The New York Times reported.
The partners will run the hotels with a brand license from the Trump Organization and the new chain would have American-themed decorations and trinkets.
Suresh Chawla, who manages the Dallas-based small hotel chain with his brother Dinesh Chawla, already owns 17 hotels under various franchise names. Their new venture Lyric Hotel and Spa in rural Mississippi is expected to be completed in first half of 2018.
The Trump Organization has also come out with a four-star hotel venture under the name Scion. These will be licensed to partners, but the Trump Organization will manage the planning and decision making. All the American Idea properties would come under this management. Scion would be the first in the American Idea series. As per the, the Organization will manage and market the hotels, and Chawlas will consult them as board of directors.
Suresh Chawla told the New York Times that the announcement was “extremely surreal; my father should be here.”
Chawla Hotels was founded by late VK Chawla, who emigrated to United States from India by way of Canada.
According to The Times, Suresh Chawla donated $50,000 to Donald Trump and Republican Party during the presidential campaign, despite his initial support to other candidates.
The American Idea chain would be the latest expansion of Trump’s hotel empire, runs by Trump’s oldest sons Donald Jr. and Eric, together with existing Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg.
