Ghose was arrested from a checkpoint near Las Cruces.
A 41-year-old Indian American man was detained on Thursday for allegedly shooting his ex-wife and her husband, leaving the latter dead in League City, Texas.
Sayantan Ghose, a registered nurse who worked at a dialysis clinic, was taken into police custody within 16 hours after the crime was reported.
Ghose was arrested from a checkpoint near Las Cruces, New Mexico, and is charged with murder.
The deceased has been identified as 43-year-old Clarence Wayne Harris II, who was living along with his wife 36-year-old Amanda Harris.
According to the ABC13 report, Ghose and Harris divorced in 2008. On Wednesday night she called 911 complaining that he “has been stalking her for years” and was standing near the front door of her League City home.
Police personnel who attended the frantic call of Harris found Wayne dead with at least seven gunshots on his body. Amanda, who was also shot, was taken to a nearby hospital and is being treated for bullet injuries. Doctors have confirmed that she is recovering.
Shockingly, Amanda Harris’ 10-year-old daughter witnessed the whole incident.
“There’s nothing much I can say about it. It’s his business. His life. I’m totally out of it,” KTRK quoted Ghose’s mother. “I’m not responsible. Whatever he’s done is totally wrong. Totally wrong. It’s a crime.”
However, the motive for the murder is still unclear. Ghose’s bond is set at $150,000.
