The Indian American executive earlier served as the CFO and interim CEO of TiVo.
Music streaming service Pandora earlier this week appointed Indian American CFO Naveen Chopra as its interim President and CEO. The company’s co-founder Tim Westergren is stepping down from the post.
Chopra, who joined Pandora in February 28, earlier served as the CFO and interim CEO TiVo. He has background and expertise in consumer-oriented technology companies. In his new role, he would manage corporate development and strategy, finance, investor relations, facilities and CIO functions in Pandora.
Chopra completed his under-graduation in Economics and Computer Science from Stanford University in 1996 and secured an MBA from the University’s Business School in 2000.
The same year, he joined Moxi Digital/ Rearden Steel as a Product Marketing and Business Development Director.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Chopra had stints as Business Development Director at Hewlett Packard and WebTV.

After working with companies like Ispiri Inc and Ofoto, Chopra joined TiVo in August 2003. He had been working for the company’s various functions for 13 years and moved up to the rank of CFO in 2012. He took charge as company’s interim CEO in January 2016. He was responsible for overseeing numerous strategic initiatives in addition to TiVo’s accounting, financial reporting, planning, tax and treasury functions. Following the acquisition by Rovi, Chopra left TiVo in September. He is also a member of the board of the voice and messaging service provider Vonage.
“Our strategy is to nail the passive listening experience and make sure we have on-demand as an option but not lose sight of our strength,†Chopra told The Street. “The winners and losers in the music streaming space will be really be determined by who can build the most compelling consumer product.â€
