Jayapal criticized Republicans for wasting so much time
Congress woman Pramila Jayapal on Tuesday said that the Republicans “should sit down and actually work with Democrats†to improve the healthcare system.
In an interview with the Washington Post, Jayapal said that Democrats were always willing to work with the Republicans, but every time they put forward a plan to repeal and replace.
“They finally have leadership in the House, the Senate and Presidency and will became close they have no plan to actually provide the healthcare. So, now the issue to set down and actually work with Democrats to try something together,†Jayapal said.
The Washington 7th District Representative criticized Republicans for wasting so much time in tying to address the health care issue saying they will repeal and replace, without any replacement plans.
“It became very clear that there was no plan that wan any better, and the affordable care act is provided care- health care- access to health care to millions of people across the country. You can’t take that away,†she told the Washington Post adding that what we need the focus should be to improve and expand healthcare.
Jayapal, who strongly opposes the Trump Care bill, earlier pointed that if Republican passed the obamacare replacement bill, it will strip 24 million Americans of their healthcare, cut $880 billion from Medicaid, and strip coverage from 133 million Americans with pre-existing conditions.
“This cruel plan strips American families of their health care, slashed Medicaid and cuts essential health benefits for millions – all while giving massive tax cuts to billionaires. Republicans cannot claim they care about people and support this heartless bill,†Jayapal said in a statement last month. “This TrumpCare bill was negotiated by thirteen male politicians behind closed doors. How can it possibly reflect the needs of the American people?â€
The Vice Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee issued many statements regarding this issue and also hosted six Town Halls in locations such as Seattle, Vashon Island, Shoreline, and Burien.
