Six Indian Americans were honored for outstanding achievements in their respective fields of specialization during the 25th Anniversary celebrations of Kerala Cultural and Civic Center, New York.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal, Attorney Appen Menon, writer Dr. Sheela N.P., Dr. A.K.B. Pillai, Sheela Sreekumar and Ginsmon Zacharia were among the dignitaries who were honored at the event held on November 4.
The event had Consul General of India in New York Sandeep Chakravorty as the chief guest and Dr. Abraham George as the keynote speaker.

The event was held in World’s Fair Marina, Flushing.
The event also felicitated 25th Jubilee Year Life Time Achievers: Shanti Bhavan Founder Dr. Abraham George, Industrialist and Founder & Chairman of Sami-Sabinsa Group Dr. Muhammed Majeed; Philanthropist Sreedhar Menon; and, Columbia UniversityProfessor P Somasundaran and Entrepreneur Dilip Varghese.
“Kerala Center has been honoring outstanding achievers since 1991 and every year we invite nominations and the committee has to make a unanimous choice for a candidate in a category to receive the award and this year is no different from previous years in terms of their achievements,” said Kerala Center President Thambi Thalappillil.
According to E.M. Stephen, founder and executive director of Kerala Center, since its inception 25 years ago, the center has recognized 140 achievers who have made outstanding contributions to the society.
