The Indian merchants feel happy with Amazon as the company is managing everything from shipping to customer handling.
E-commerce giant Amazon is continuing its spree with best deals for the customers and the recent Black Friday and Cyber Sunday sales are not different from it.
Headquartered in Seattle, the company is giving discounts on products like leather shoes and luxury bedding and to great surprise, most of these products they are selling in the United States are coming from India.
Amazon is looking for Indian merchants to sell different products on the company’s US website, New York Times reported. In the last two years, at least 27,000 Indian sellers have signed with the company and sold their products to the American customers. The sellers include industry giants such as Tata Group and small firms like The Boho Street.
Tata group sells their Titan watches line and The Boho Street sells vegan tapestries, incense, and handcrafted copper mugs.
“What we are trying to do is compress the global supply chain and bring sellers and customers closer,” The New York Times quoted Abhijit Kumra, the head of Amazon’s global selling program in India.
Products such as saris attract customers of Indian heritage, while jewelry and health products have wider appeal he said adding that Americans are already buying products like cotton towel, which are made in India.
For the Black Friday sale of the Thanksgiving weekend, the online retail giant helped it sellers for their preparations including stockpiling goods in the United States and programming special “lightning deals.” According to the report, the multinational even lent sellers money for inventory.
The Indian merchants also feel happy with Amazon as they are handling everything from shipping to customer handling and helps the sellers focus on making best quality products. Many stopped selling in other marketplaces and decided to concentrate on Amazon.
India is also a huge domestic market for Amazon and recently, the company has invested another $443 million to its marketplace arm in India, Amazon Seller Services, doubling Amazon India’s authorized capital to $4.74 billion.
