This is the tenth consecutive year that the pageant is announcing awards for the teen category.
New York-based Indian American model, Shivangi Maini has been crowned ‘Miss India New York 2017.’
The 36th edition of the coveted pageant that was held on December 3 in Long Land New York announced Maini as the winner for 2017.
Another Indian American Renuka Joseph, who is a pharmacy technician by profession, was announced the first runner-up while Inpreet Rattu of Suffolk County was announced the second runner-up.
The Miss India New York 2017 pageant was hosted by Panache Entertainment in association with IFC.
Vinika Shikapuri from Melville, Long Island, was crowned as the Miss Teen India New York 2017.Â
1st runner-up: Simran Kohli from Hicksville, Long Island; 2nd runner-up: Priya Aguilar Bhanot, New Hyde Park; and 3rd runner-up: Geetika Kochar from Bethpage, Long Island.
Talath Quadri from Long Island won the Mrs. India New York 2017 title.
1st Runner Up: Devinder “Devin”; 2nd runner-up: Gurpreet Kaur from Upstate, NY and 3rd runner-up: Anjali Jain from Hicksville, Long Island.
In addition to these titles, there were multiple subtitle winners in all 3 categories including best talent: Vinika Shikapuri, beautiful smile: Anjali Jain, most photogenic: Nidhi Tomar, best model: Sofia Win Aung.
This year, a new title was also crowned as Panache Brand Ambassador. The first year initiation was crowned to Sofia Win Aung.Â
According to an official press release, Shikapuri, who is a violinist, took the stage to her hand playing Indian national anthem and performing Bollywood hit, “Aisa Jadoo Dala Re.â€

The winners will now proceed to compete representing the state of New York, at Miss, Teen and Mrs. India USA hosted at Royal Alberts Palace on Sunday, December 17, by Neelam and Dharmatma Saran of IFC.
The Judges Panel included Adnan Khwaja: director of supermodel pageant Runway Princess, and event planner of AA Film Studios and Dream moulders, Sharanjit Singh Thind, Box Office and South Asian Insider founder, Nilima Madan, renowned social worker and community leader, Abhinav Madan, travel specialist and founder of The Ticket Guru, and Sunita Manjrekar, director of social services in Nassau County.
