The premier show highlights the many food products and services that have spurred the growth of this sector in India.
From 2012 to 2016 India’s bulk, intermediate, consumer-oriented and agricultural related imports grew from $23.1 billion to $26.9 billion. Imports of consumer-oriented foods, led by tree nuts, are among the fastest growing segment of imported agricultural products and reached $4.2 billion in 2016 with United States market share at 17 percent.
“Aahar is one of Asia’s best-known brands in food and hospitality shows. The fair has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years and has become the ultimate destination for global vendors and sourcing professionals to visit in the month of March,” Hema Maity, general manager, ITPO, and in-charge, Aahar, was quoted as saying by food blog Hungry Forever.
“Aahar is an order-writing show, where the hotel industry, restaurants, catering industry, institutions, importers, buyers, and distributors can meet vendors to source the best of the products in the food, hospitality and equipment sectors,” Maity added.
The exhibition is being organized by the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), with the support of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Agricultural, and Processed Food Products Development Authority (APEDA) and other industry bodies.
Other countries participating in the fair are China, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Spain, Oman, South Korea, Thailand, UAE, Peru, Norway, Indonesia, Canada, Tunisia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan.
