The woman alleges that her husband married her for financial gains after cheating another woman.
Harittha Pabbathi, an Indian woman from Andhra Pradesh, who is in the United States apparently on a tourist visa, has pleaded help from US authorities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in India. She has tweeted several videos and photos where a man she says is her husband can be seen slapping her face.
In a series of tweets tagged to External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj, Denton County Criminal District Attorney Paul Johnson, President Donald Trump, the US Embassy in India and the Department of Homeland Security, Pabbathi narrates the ordeals that she had to encounter from her “abusive†husband who took her to the United States during her 8th month of pregnancy.
“My husband is abuser and trafficker. he took me to u.s during my 8th month of pregnancy and after labor with in month he kicked me out of home. he already married one lady at India,†Pabbathi tweeted. She alleged that her husband married her for financial gains after cheating another woman in India, and brought her to the US so that their baby can get citizenship upon birth.
“Just for my baby to get citizenship he needs my baby. my husband and his parents didn’t allow me to feed my baby. becoz he wants me to send back India alone without my baby. he took me here with a tourist visa. they hatched a plan to send me back,†she said. According to her, she is under house arrest, constantly watched through CCTV cameras even in the bedroom and is not allowed to communicate with the outside world.
The woman tweeted two videos of her husband abusing her and a few photos showing her bruises. She said that she has access to more videos to prove that her husband, who is on an H-1B visa, is a “criminal and a trafficker,†and needs to be deported back to India.

“Unfortunately we cannot get involved in personal disputes. We recommend that you get in touch with local law enforcement authorities regarding the same,†the US Embassy in India tweeted replying to Pabbathi.
The External Affairs Ministry of India, which has a history of taking suo moto actions based on distress tweets of Indians living abroad, is yet to respond to Pabbathi, who hasn’t tweeted since March 13.
In her last tweet, Pabbathi requested authorities to help her in getting back her baby and wrote that she doesn’t want any money from her husband.
“I need justice. Requesting authority to give me my baby back. I don’t wan anything from him. I wan my baby that’s enough m ready to sign in document that I don’t wan single dollar or rupee. Just gv my baby,†the tweet read.
Denton County Criminal District Attorney Johnson has directed her to first contact the Denton Police Department so they can start an investigation. “We are more than happy to meet with you or assist in any way but Denton PD is where to start. DM me for additional info,†he said.
Pabbathi now lives in the Denton County, Texas, but her exact address is yet to be identified.
