Abbot will meet CEOs, company executives and officials from the Indian government
Texas Governor Greg Abbott is leading a high-level delegation to India to promote business development and encourage investment in India.
Abbott will visit the cities of Mumbai, Bengaluru, Agra and New Delhi and meet with CEOs, company executives and officials from the Indian government during the mission from March 22-30.
The focus of the mission is to expand the state’s business ties with India. Texas is one of the leading states in exports to India. While it exports oil, petrochemicals, civilian aircraft engines and other goods valued at nearly $3.8 billion to India, the state imports several goods including foodstuffs, crustaceans, and jewelry from India.
“Nowhere else in the United States will you find a better business environment or a more talented workforce than Texas,” said Governor Abbott in a statement.
“The Lone Star State continues to be a premier destination for foreign direct investment, and this trip will be an opportunity to further highlight and share Texas’ economic success story. I look forward to bringing more jobs and investment to our state, and continuing to build upon Texas’ already strong economic and cultural relationship with India,” he added.
There are more than 700 companies in the state that do business with India. The state is also home to several Indian Americans.
This is Governor Abbott’s fourth international business development trip since taking office. Earlier he had visited Cuba, Mexico and, in a two-country swing, Switzerland, and Israel.
The trip is sponsored and paid for by the Texas Economic Development Corporation.
